Committed to protecting our Environment
Four Oaks Farms is committed to making the best use of the land and the resources available.
- For example, studies have shown that hydroponic growing systems require one-tenth the water than used in traditional farming methods.
- We will not use insecticides or pesticides that are NOT certified as organic our greenhouses. Due to the controlled environment and steps taken to minimize the possibility, we will seldom will experience an infestation but if we do, we make use of “beneficial” insects that consume the crop damaging insects without adversely impacting the crops.
- The amount of land required for crop production is significantly reduced. More than five times the production per acre over traditional methods can be achieved.
- No heavy equipment is used in the growing process so there is no need to burn fossil fuels to plant, maintain the crops.
